DEBORAH UMA SHEETZ

Uma discovered the healing power of yoga in the early 1990’s when she went to her first class after experiencing the death of a loved one, and walked out more at peace and free of the physical symptoms of grief. By 2000 she completed a 200-hour teacher training in Integral Yoga followed by Stress Management Teacher Training, and Intermediate Integral Yoga, leading to 500 hour RYT status in 2007. Inner Peace Yoga Therapy program certification came in 2013 after her early retirement from the federal government, and then Yoga Nidra certification. In 2017, having met the rigorous requirements of the International Association of Yoga Therapists, Uma joined the ranks of the first group of yoga teachers to receive individual yoga therapist certification. Since then, Uma has been teaching workshops and working extensively with private clients looking to access the therapeutic benefits of yoga. Uma believes that if you can breathe, you can enjoy yoga and all it has to offer. She especially loves to work with heart and cancer patients, seniors and those with movement restrictions, as well as people dealing with grief, stress, anxiety and depression.
